Less is More

The first time I ever heard "Less is More" I really didn't get it. Why on earth would anyone think less is more? As a typical girl all I want is more! More clothes, more bags, more jewellery and more than anything, more shoes!

As you know I'm off this Saturday to Toronto. Traveling with my boyfriend Mark to see my best friend Sarah, who I haven't seen in what feels like a lifetime.
In a previous blog post, (Holiday List) I told you about my crazy list writing for when I go on holidays. With that I spent all day Sunday trying on pretty much everything I own. Mark could now be a stylist after my "try on" session.
After my mother slagged me saying I pack too much, I really wanted to show her I could pack light-ish.
(I remember a sun (7day) holiday I went on years ago, I took 14 pairs of shoes.)

I'll be away for 8 nights, trying to fit in so much with Sarah and her fiancĂ© Will, and also some sight seeing with Mark.
I've compiled 4 outfits for going out at night only taking 1 pair of heels.
ONE pair! (Yes of course I plan on purchasing many pairs new shoes) Doing my best to travel light to shop more.

This is four outfits one shoe.
Metallic Court Shoe
H&M Top, All Saints Leather Skirt and Pennys Snake print Clutch
H&M Sequin Jacket, Zara Necklace, Topshop String Top, Zara Leather look Trousers and River Island Purple Fluffy Bag
H&M Jewelled Top, Pennys Tuxedo Smoker Trousers and Pennys Clutch
Topshop Cream Zip detail Top, All Saints Leather Skirt, Valentino Stud Clutch and Gold Cuff.
I plan taking so many photographs on this trip, and will show you how the outfits turn out on me. My instagram @kymsmyth5 is where you will find my outfits daily but I will of course have a blog on my trip when home.

Winter Warmers

Good Evening Ladies
As Game of Thrones says (a million times) Winter is coming. With that, not just in mind anymore, because here in Dublin it is starting to feel like Winter.

Last week my mother bought me a beautiful camel wool coat from Zara, which I just adore.
Shopping on Saturday

So with the drastic change in the weather, and my trip to Toronto fast approaching I've been looking at the following.

Gorgeous fur pom pom beanie hats from this cute London company Amelia Jane.
£28.00
They have all colours. These are some of my favourite. The sky blue colour is amazing, but the oatmeal colour they have online will match more for me. Come pay day I think that will be my treat.

Ponchos.
I can't get enough. Been wearing for years and now they're back this AW which I'm all over. My friends all slagged me when I was pretty much living in an old aztec pattern poncho/cardigan a few years ago.
The Burberry poncho is the dream. Unfortunately I'm not famous enough to have one gifted to me, nor am I rich enough to order one with my initials, so I have an alternative.

Zara
Not the exact same colour, but just as chic and only €39.95

River Islands powder blue over sized fedora hat. Fabulous. £28.00

Now for my Christmas List.
Charlotte Simone fur magic creations.
Need in my life.
Fur Cuff £250.00
Fur Popsicle £299.00
Rosie Fortescue and Oliva Palermo are two of the most stylish women on the planet to me, and are both wearing popsicles from Charlotte Simone. This British based designer has ethically sourced the fur and also offers all styles in a faux fur rendition. I will be telling Santa I was extra good this year!

Right now, I'm about to start matching up outfits for Toronto which is in 10 days. Ekkkk!!
Once I get a few together I shall put them up.

Halloween

Happy Friday, and long weekend to you all.
I woke this morning to see all my social media full of friends children all dressed up for their school halloween party.
If you don't know me, Halloween is my favourite day/holiday of the year. (Yes more than Christmas, my birthday or Easter) I just love everything about it. The costumes, monkey nuts, fireworks, pumpkins, scary movies and of course the candy!
This year Mark and myself were invited to his friends Halloween Party. He is hosting a Trick or Treat for Temple Street (Children's Hospital) Halloween party. Which is such an amazing idea, raising money for a great cause. Unfortunately Mark and myself will now miss out on all party's this Halloween. (Marks car crash was only a week ago, and never minding the heavy tablets he is taking its the pain he is in that will have him taking it easy)

With that I've looked back at some past costume choices of mine. Some are embarrassing, and others I still love and laugh at.
I really hope I've given you a laugh this Friday. Looking forward to seeing all the costume photos this year!

Counting my blessings

Dear Readers,
Please forgive me, it has been seven days since my last post.
Last Thursday was just a regular day to me. I was working the late shift, so this is how I managed to have time to take a selfie before leaving home.
Selfie before heading to work
All was normal until 6:43pm when my boyfriend Mark managed to call me. He was in the Mater Hospital strapped to a body board and a neck brace. He was in a terrible car crash on the way home from work, so bad that his car is a write off. Never got such a fright. These are the calls you wish you never receive. I then had to call his mother which was so stressful. I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news and worry her with my querving voice. By some miracle Mark did not break a bone. Not one! The road to recovery will be a long one for him now though. From Thursday night I have been counting my blessings, and thanking god it wasn't more serious.

I spent the whole weekend playing nurse for Mark so to cheer myself up I bought...
The perfect winter/ party block embellished shoe boot. From New Look and only €49.99
I look forward to wearing these soon and sparkle with every step.

With the change of weather I'm on the look out for a new coat, and have decided I want a camel wool coat to take me through AW14.
These are images I want to recreate this Autumn.
Just been shopping online (as I've been indoors) looking for the perfect coat, and Zara seem to have the best selection so I need to try get into the store soon.

Other news this week was the launch of the Alexander Wang collection for H&M. I have been waiting on edge for this to arrive and it's just amazing. Not in stores until the 6th of November, but here is some my favourite pieces from the line.
I shall be back soon and hopefully with no more bad news.

Catching up!

Today was my Monday, as yesterday I was so sick and had to miss work! Since I couldn't sleep (I had terrible pains in my stomach) I started watching Orange is the Black on Netflix. Now my mother my sister and my friend Alison all told me how good it is and to watch it ages ago, but I only got the time yesterday and I finished the whole first series. I'm not too sure if I love it yet (it's no Breaking Bad) but I will watch another episode tonight before bed so that says something. Have you watched it yet? Does it get better? Love to know your thoughts.

Saturday night I managed to swipe tickets for the Darts World Grand Prix in Citywest Convention Centre.
Pennys Jumper
Stradivarius Faux Fur Gilet
H&M Black Kick-out Skirt
Topshop Boots
Since it was last minute Mark (my boyfriend) and I missed the first game but got there just in time for the main event Bunting -V- VanGerwen.
One Hundred and Eighty!!!!!!
I must now also confess how mad I am about darts. I love to watch and play myself. I know, not very girly but I do love it. I was up for the underdog Bunting but we all knew VanGerwen was going to win. Afterwards we went up to the VIP players lounge were I got to have a short around the world game on the darts board with Mark and met VanGerwen himself. Ok well I could have met him but I didn't. He walked in with four big plates full of sandwiches and looked like he wanted to enjoy them so we left him to it. Raging now I didn't just go annoy him for a quick snap. I did however take a sneaky one.
Michael VanGerwen signing an autograph
Found this old photo of myself dressed to the 9's playing darts. I was on holidays in Dubai November 2012 with my friend Lucy. We had just returned to our hotel after an amazing cocktail night in the Burj Al Arab when I wanted to play darts in my Little Black Dress and YSL heels. Lucy was so mad at me but I was having a ball.

Still working on my packing for Toronto. Only 25 days to go! Ekkk so excited. So I will be back to you this week with my second list http://kymsmyth.blogspot.com/2014/10/holiday-list.html if you didn't catch that post. Again ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmCCQxVBfyM is now stuck in my head.

Now for the second series of Orange is the new Black.

Holiday List

I’m known for a few things.
I cannot for the life of me tell a joke right. I will either tell the ending first, stumble through the whole delivery, or just laugh too much that it somehow turns out to be funnier to laugh at me instead. Known also for my impersonations or lack thereof! I just cannot understand, that with the hours I’ve spent practicing different accents I can’t do any correctly. ANY!
But the main thing everyone knows about me is my list writing skills when I’m packing for a holiday.
Yes I may have a touch of OCD (Obsessive–compulsive disorder) as I do draft up three lists total, but it has proven very helpful for me. Friends do laugh but unlike a good friend of mine who travels three to four times a month lets just call her Lucy, previously went on a weekend away and forgot to bring shoes! Lucy who is a girl forgot to bring shoes. To combat this anxiety I enjoy writing up my three lists.

List One is just a test run so to speak. I will write out the days and nights I will be away, and the events on each day so I can plan each outfit accordingly.
List One
List Two will be in more depth.
Example Day One: 8th November Flight Outfit. I will write in what I plan to wear and even note socks and underwear in this list (as I did go on a foreign holiday once with only the underwear on me at the time. Sorry Lucy I feel bad now) I will make note of jewellery I want to wear with the outfit what handbag, shoes even factoring in a hair bobbin if I want to sleep on the fight (I’m that crazy with my list)

List Three is the final list. I will have all my outfits ready and selected. Trying to lighten the load by now looking to see if a pair of shoes or boots can be used for other days and outfits on the trip.
Toiletries, hairbrushes, make-up and creams will all go on a separate list. So I suppose you can say I write up four lists in all.

It’s now 32 days until I fly to Toronto Canada, to see my best friend Sarah for her 30th Birthday. That is my List One done so I’ll now be starting the second in the coming days. As I even type this up, the music from the game Tetris is playing in my head.
This happens every time I’m physically packing my suitcase. It’s like playing a real life game because if you can’t fit everything in you can’t take these things away. Tip: Always roll your clothes that way they won’t crease as much, and it’s actually easier to fit more in when you roll them.

I plan going into more detail with packing and toiletries I will be bringing as I get closer to my holiday.

I’ll leave you this evening with another gem that people know of me.
My suitcases.
My suitcases xxx
To me I feel like Carrie Bradshaw when I have them next to me. The colour and shape of them are just the business, but if you ever see me using them, well that tells another story. It wont stand up, as the case is a half moon shape it rolls over if you don’t hold it constantly. Also the wheels like to do their own thing. I wheel right so my case goes left naturally. Everyone laughs when I take them out for a trip, but I adore them. When waiting on your luggage and everyone’s cases look the same, it’s hard to find your own, but not mine!

Back soon.
